"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn."
- Benjamin Franklin
Why is "uhuru" important?
"Uhuru" is a Swahili word meaning "freedom." At Uhuru Projects, we embrace a philosophy rooted in the exchange of knowledge, experiences, teachings, cultures, and values—an endeavor that demands deep and meaningful engagement. Based in Arusha, Tanzania, a vibrant and culturally rich region on the eastern coast of Africa, we are surrounded by breathtaking wildlife and nature.

Uhuru Project Africa is an NGO based in Arusha Tanzania.
Our mission extends to helping homeless children and single mothers, providing them with the support and resources they need to thrive.
We also offer opportunities for volunteers to get involved in various programs, making a positive impact in our community while fostering connection and understanding across diverse backgrounds.

Children Cheering Each other in st
We believe in cultural exchange as a powerful tool to help and develop local communities for the future. Our vision goes beyond simply aiding communities in Tanzania; we believe that cultural exchange also profoundly benefits our volunteers.
Through these experiences, volunteers gain a deeper understanding of different cultures, enrich their own perspectives, and develop better knowledge of themselves and others.
